Spatio-Temporal Distribution of Phytoplankton and Water Quality of Some Rivers of Haute Sanaga Department (Central Africa)

In Cameroon, rivers are subjected to physicochemical disturbances, which increase the degradation of water quality. The aim this study was determine spatio-temporal diversity phytoplankton groups and evaluate environmental parameters sampling sites in order assess quality two hydrographic networks. Physicochemicals analyzes were carried out according standard methods while organisms harvested by direct analyzed Utermöhl method. analysis Ammonia Nitrogen, Dissolved Oxygen, Electric Conductivity, Nitrates, Orthophosphates, pH, Temperature, Turbidity.of revealed poor state health water. Data from Long Dry Season differed significantly (p < 0.05) those recorded other seasons. communities made up Chlorophyta, Chrysophyta, Cyanophyta, Euglenophyta with 11 classes dominated Bacilliarophyceae (12 210 Ind/mL) Cyanophyceae (6 208 Ind/mL). Phytoplankton densities higher Rainy much lower Small than Season. Station near NODISCAM indicated significant organic pollution under effect agro-industrial discharges operating upstream company. For station, different values showed differences one station another. Finally, spatio-seasonal variations logical responses changes conditions environment. This work highlights need treat wastewater collection channels before its dump into natural environment, prevent progressive eutrophication receiving aquatic poisoning consumption.
